My Approach to Helping
Shemeah is trained in Solution-Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Christian Counseling, Diversity-Affirmative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Trauma-Informed Care. Although Shemeah spent over 30 years working in child and adolescent therapy, she has since embraced serving adults through individual and couples counseling. Her focus is on empowering individuals, helping them realize their locus of control and personal responsibility, further enabling them to improve how they relate to and interact with others and the world around them. Shemeah has extensive experience working with diverse populations, lifestyles, and beliefsfaiths, believing in the power of community. She knows that when working with individuals, it is important to also support the family system, however the individual defines it. Shemeah takes a holistic approach to the human experience, understanding that each individual is a multicultural being. She believes in treating the whole person and employing different therapeutic modalities based on what aligns with the individual. Shemeah believes that everyone has it within themselves to make the changes they hope to see in their lives.
