My Approach to Helping

We all have gifts from God, and I believe helping people to heal is one of my gifts. We are all on a journey of self discovery. All aspects of our life including the work that we do, the people that come into our lives, and the things that happen to us all provide an opportunity for growth and deepening our connection with ourselves and others.

I have known I wanted to be a therapist since I was 13, because it was the first time when I saw a therapist that someone actually tuned into my feelings. Through this experience, I felt seen and truly began to see myself.

The most valuable subject we can learn about to be successful in life is ourselves! How are we supposed to navigate through our lives without knowing ourselves? How can we be centered if we do not understand some underlying principles about psychology, such as how we interpret our environment, defense mechanisms we employ to protect ourselves from pain, and the mind-body-spirit connection? How can we navigate the many ups and downs of life without this knowledge? We cannot; we will be lost! That is why there is so much suffering in our world, because individually, as families, and as a society we are trying to navigate our lives without truly understanding and healing ourselves. Through understanding and healing, it helps to stop years of negative multi-generational patterns in families and helps to promote a deeper, happier more peaceful connection within and with others, which in turn, makes our world a better place.

More Info About My Practice

Seeing that the therapeutic relationship is very important, I offer a free telephone consultation to make sure that you can relate to me and my philosophy. During the consultation, you will share what is going on that has prompted you to seek help at this time and I will share my philosophy with you and how I would help you get to a better place.

Because I strongly believe in the privacy of the therapeutic relationship, I am an out-of-network provider only. This means that you pay me and are reimbursed by your insurance company. The 4 questions that you would ask your insurance company to see how much you would be reimbursed are as follows:

1. What are my benefits for out-of-network Licensed Certified Social Workers?
2. Is my coverage a percentage of what is considered a customary fee or is it of the actual
fee?
3. Do I have a calendar year deductible?
4. Is there a limit on the number of sessions per calendar year?

I accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard and Health Savings Accounts as forms of payment.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

My work with clients is to help them to heal and live free from their difficulties. No matter what the situation is, I believe people have a natural tendency to work through their problems if one is in a safe, caring and supportive environment. The way healing begins to take place, is by establishing a trusting relationship with my clients and by encouraging them to trust and believe in themselves.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

When working with people I help them to understand how they have come to relate in the world based on their experience from their family of origin, I provide them with many tools to break negative patterns and a safe place to process the difficult emotions that remain inside them from painful experiences. I have used my approach for over 20 years to help facilitate healing and help create lasting change in the life of my clients, my children and myself.
