My Approach to Helping

I am a psychodynamic, relational, somatic, & experiential therapist. I treat a range of problems: mood disorders, psychosis, trauma and other forms of distress. My work with clients is integrative, humanistic and client centered. I help clients uncover, understand, and metabolize their deeper motivations and emotions. As they become aware of their subconscious, they discover clarity and choice, and their lives begin to change.

I support clients with emotional regulation, interpersonal communication, and learning mindfulness. My work aims to nourish, support and ground through connection, compassion, and awareness.

More Info About My Practice

Sometimes experiences or sensations in the present moment touch and awaken unresolved experiences from our past, without our awareness of what happened; it is all unconscious. This can result in any number of confusing and distressing situations, from anxiety, panic, & dissociation to irritability, feelings of overwhelm or sadness. In my practice, I work with clients to uncover and resolve experiences from the past so they no longer creep into the present and lead them to defend against situations that are no longer relevant. As the unconscious becomes conscious, change becomes possible.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I see psychotherapy as an opportunity to have a new experience in relationship. So many times, we seek help from others and end up having our experience minimized, are told to just let go, or otherwise experience being unseen and not heard. In therapy, there is room to unpack your experience, honor it, and come to understand it in a deeper way. There is nothing to distract and no need to turn away. The therapeutic relationship is safe, secure and confidential which allows for something different to happen; you get to see yourself in a new light.
