My Approach to Helping
Shiri believes that the foundation of effective therapy is the connection between the client and the therapist. Clients need to feel comfortable, heard, and trusted, and Shiri brings empathy, authenticity, and nonjudgmental acceptance into her practice. She helps clients challenge the “stories” they tell themselves, examining these narratives against objective reality. Often, these stories are shaped by past experiences and are not grounded in the present truth. Recognizing this allows clients to rewrite their own narrative.
With over 25 years of experience, Shiri is passionate about guiding clients through their healing journeys. She knows firsthand that there is always hope, even in the most challenging circumstances. Having faced her own difficulties and found strength and healing through therapy, Shiri now helps others discover the same resilience and hope. Shiri Shapira-Simchi is a Clinical Social Worker from Israel and is licensed as a Social Worker in Colorado. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Social Work from Bar-Ilan University in Israel, and a Bachelor of Social Work from Tel-Aviv University. She completed a two-year certificate program specializing in youth therapy, as well as additional training in play therapy from the Synergetic Play Therapy Institute.
Shiri began her career as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Israel, working with teens and their families facing trauma, abuse, addiction, and criminal behavior. She provided individual, family, and group therapy. After moving to the U.S., Shiri supported individuals and couples in the Israeli community in California, helping with immigration, relationship, and parenting issues. Five years ago, she relocated to Colorado, where she worked with DUI offenders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Most recently, Shiri worked in a private clinic for 2.5 years, treating clients aged 5 to 70 with conditions like depression, anxiety, loneliness, suicidal ideation, and relationship challenges.
Shiri lives in Colorado with her husband, two teenage boys, two dogs, and three cats. In her free time, she enjoys writing, reading, walking her dogs, and spending time with loved ones.
