My Approach to Helping
Motivation and change do not always come naturally for everyone, especially for those who struggle with some form of psychopathology that is increasingly prevalent today (e.g., depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism). As a licensed psychologist with Long Island Psychology, I am passionate about helping young adults, teens, and kids with achieving their full potential. My approach is client-centered with techniques that stem from positive psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing. Our sessions will always start with us building a strong relationship. I need to hear about your goals, but I also want to understand your expectations for therapy. I have always prioritized making strong connections with my clients and getting to know them fairly well.
My career started in the field of school psychology six years ago. I have an intimate knowledge of the various types of special education programs and services that are offered in the school setting for those who may struggle with learning disabilities, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I have always felt grateful to be in a position where I can teach others how to advocate for themselves. With great enthusiasm, I expanded my clinical reach to provide psychotherapy and psycho-educational testing beyond the school setting. In addition to my work with children and adolescents, I have helped young adults develop their executive skills (e.g., planning, organization, time management) and social-emotional competencies. Using evidence-based techniques that I tailor to each individual’s situation, I empower my clients to improve their well-being when they are experiencing a variety of concerns that can often occur along with depression and anxiety (e.g., loneliness, relationship difficulties, volatile anger, excessive perfectionism, etc.).
