My Approach to Helping
My name is Stacie Carr and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois. I have had my clinical license for 13 years and I have experience working with children, adults, and adolescents in a clinical setting. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, parenting issues, & depression. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. I primarily practice using techniques from the following treatment modalities; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy among others. The primary focus will be tailoring each session to meet the client's needs. I like to engage the client in conversation and help them to challenge beliefs that no longer serve their best interest. This approach has often assisted the client to become more empowered to move forward with the changes that they would like to see happen in their lives.
I have experience working with adults, teenagers, and older adolescent children who are struggling with, depression, anxiety, ADHD, parenting struggles, PTSD, marital and divorce problems, somatization, aging, adoptionfoster care, and grief along with many others. I feel that clients are best served in a calm and quiet environment. My style is calm and engaging, which helps put others at ease. This is especially beneficial when learning new ways of thinking and processing their trauma. With guidance, I encourage clients to identify the goals that they want to achieve. I will work with them to navigate through the therapeutic process at every stage.
In the first session, clients can expect to work on completing an assessment, identifying treatment goals, and discussing what they are wanting to achieve during the therapeutic process. Clients can also expect an explanation of confidentiality, what they can expect from me as well as some time to review any questions they may have about the process.
