Knoxville is the government seat of Knox County, Tennessee. It is located on the Tennessee River and has a land area of 99 square miles. The city was incorporated in 1815.

Knoxville has a population of 187,000 people. Ninety-six percent of the people in Knoxville are United States citizens. An estimated 10,100 military veterans live in the city.
