My Approach to Helping
We are all seeking relief from something or have certain roadblocks we are continually coming up against that seemingly won’t budge. Needing extra support is nothing to be ashamed of - reaching out for it is a sign of strength and courage. I believe every individual possesses innate strengths and I work with clients to identify and build upon these as the foundation for healthy change and personal growth. Often what we view as our weaknesses can also become strengths, they just need to be in balance. Through self-examination and hard work we have the capacity to grow and surpass our current problems and limitations.
With over 15 years of clinical experience I have utilized cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, & psychoeducation, among other techniques, to aid the development of healthy coping skills, including effective communication and self-care. My job is to help you discover and employ your strengths, while also identifying maladaptive thought and behavior patterns and diminishing them. Change is possible, as I have borne witness to it often in my work.
One of the worst feelings when you are struggling is that you are alone, and there is no one who could possibly listen, understand, support, and accept you just as you are, as you make your way through the maze of whatever it is that is troubling you.
