My Approach to Helping
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for the past 23 years. My counseling style is based on the cognitive-behavioral model in which beliefs, internal dialogue, and subsequent ways of perceiving our environment and responding to others are the focus. I encourage clients to identify underlying internal dialogue and beliefs that result in distress, impairment, and unfulfilled goals. I provide a safe environment free from judgment for clients to identify negative beliefs and create healthier, more realistic internal dialogue. I have extensive experience addressing gender-specific issues, depression, trauma, stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and anxiety disorder. Additionally, I am experienced in helping clients with severe and disruptive behaviors including physical aggression, sexual misconduct, and chemical dependency. Finally, I assist clients suffering from marital and relationship issues.
