My Approach to Helping
Hello, my name is Sunshine Wilder and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida. In 2004, I graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work and have been working for the past 19 years with children, teens, and adults in various settings such as child welfare, specialized therapeutic foster care, and outpatient therapy. I consider my treatment approach to be one of an eclectic nature with modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Modification, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Coping Skills Development. I have experience working with individuals with a wide range of needs such as stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, anger management, depression, ADHD, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attachment issues, and Bipolar Disorder.
I create a safe and positive environment for my clients, which aims to provide them a space to share their feelings comfortably and know I am here to help. I think my clients feel empowered and hopeful about their situations when working with me. I have always had a strong desire to help people. I am driven to continue to work in this field due to wanting people to heal from their trauma and go on to live peaceful life.
I believe that you are the expert on your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey. During the first session, I like to gather background details regarding the client's history, and current symptoms, and begin to build a therapeutic relationship.
