My Approach to Helping
Susan Jacobson, L.M.H.C., N.C.C. Is a Licensed Psychotherapist, with over twenty-five years of experience. Her approach to therapy is to provide a sense of teamwork with her clients, to help meet their goals. Susan's focus of practice is treating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, marital counseling, couples counseling, ADHD, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, and more. My theoretical approaches are to use a combination of modalities in which will be most comfortable and effective for each client. Such treatment is CBT, Family Systems Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic work, to name a few.
I typically work with clients who find themselves stuck in an uncomfortable situation andor mindset and do not know how to navigate to feel better and meet their goals. I know that gentleness is very powerful. I am respectful, kind, empathetic, and truly care about the well-being of my clients. Their happiness and comfort in therapy are very important to me. I decided to become a therapist to be able to help others in a compassionate manner. No one should feel alone in life's struggles.
Together, as a team, I will assist my clients to set specific goals. You will know I am on your side. Together we will explore and set specific measurable goals for your care. For the first session, I want my clients to tell me how I can help them, along with providing me with a thorough history. My clients are free to ask me questions as well. I want to get to know them because I care.
