My Approach to Helping
Hi there, I'm Susan! As a Marriage & Family Therapist, Susan Lane, MS, LMFT performs counseling and emotional support to help families navigate relationship and behavioral issues while seeking to secure a long-term solution to mental and emotional disorders and a wide variety of relationship issues.
I am a very solution focused therapist that want you to feel better and develop the coping strategies needed to overcome obstacles in your life. I do not just do "talk therapy" but help clients gain different coping strategies and thinking abilities so you can feel empowered in your journey of healing. In working with me, there will be a lot of writingjournaling homework assigned that will be reviewed during sessions. With any problem you face, you will be able to journal about your experience to help shift you from negative thought patterns. Since I have been practicing for many years, I personally have ventured into studying spiritual practices to help others who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, loss, grief, etc. I also can help you through inner child work woundingtrauma cords or known as "shadow work." As a result, I have studied meditation, shamanic practices, law of attraction, etc., and feel that connecting to a higher power and getting in tune with your spiritual core can assist in many struggles we face. I believe by connecting with our spiritual side and understanding our life lessons, we shift ourselves into higher learning and healing; which begins from a core level by breaking repeated negative patterns we continue to face
I've been a counselor for over 20 years. I specialize in helping those healing from broken hearts, troubled marriagesrelationships, victims of trauma, and victims of Narcissistic abusetoxic relationships. I also specialize in "Inner Child Work Healing" from toxic behaviors and patterns that are subconsciously and unconsciously programmed. So, if you are interested in a fast-track approach, really want to break bad habits and patterns that are re-playing in your life, and you are really ready to work yourself and address your issues (can handle feedback and constructive criticism), then I would be a good therapist for you. Also, be prepared to receive weekly assignments outside of our session time to help accelerate your growth. In addition, I expect you to check in with me and for you to be honest. I'm very proactive in your healing and I guide you by setting goals and achieving them with you. We work together as a team on your journey. SPECIALTIES: Relationship issues, Marriage and Family conflicts, Trauma and abuse (Narcissitic Abuse for Victims), Coping with life changes
I have a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point style that helps people want to see immediate results that will save them time and money. I also have a good listening ear and compassion to help sort out your issues, so you can feel supported and guided to be the best you can be. If you are open to constructive criticism in a gentle way to address your "dark side" and blockages, I would be a good therapist for you. It is important to look and examine all your sides in order to push you forward into movement out of old patterns. I would not be a good choice for you if you are wanting to do regular talk therapy (as my technique is intended for open minds who want quick shifting and there is work required on your end).
I enjoy helping others work through their issues quickly and effectively in shifting your thinking. During our initial session, we will set goals for you to achieve together. In our first session, we will review what issues you would like to work through and set goals for you to achieve. Initial assessment will be made via Zoom, follow-up sessions will be done via phone calls.
