My Approach to Helping
Are you pregnant or have you recently given birth? Are you struggling with managing your emotions, new responsibilities, and a new identity? You are not alone! I work with mothers, fathers, and caretakers to help support them during this complex life transition to parenthood. I have recently embarked on my own journey to motherhood, and strongly feel there is a need to support and provide skills to new parents, during and post-pregnancy. Perinatal disorders can include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, and psychosis. If you are experiencing symptoms related to any of these disorders for longer than 2 weeks postpartum, let\'s work together to help you find coping skills to help yourself and better connect to your infant and family.
I also work closely with children, adolescents and adults. I have many years of experience working in the school systems. I have a strong understanding of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and work extensively with schools and districts to best meet the needs of children. I am available for IEP consultations and attendance at meetings. When working with children and adolescents, I strive to create a fun and safe space and strong therapeutic environment. I provide coping skills to manage daily social and emotional concerns. With young to middle-aged adults, I use a relational and cognitive behavioral approach. I greatly value building a strong relationship with each individual and providing a secure therapeutic space. I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help you build effective skills and manage daily stressors.
