My Approach to Helping
When I wrote my "mission statement" 30 years ago to get into graduate school, I stated that my philosophy was "it is human nature to want to grow and change." I'm happy to say that,
through my years of practice, I have found this to be true over and over again.
People want to be the best they can be, and this is true, regardless of the issues that bring someone to see me in the first place. Whether it's depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, or just plain dissatisfaction with life - I believe in our ability to grow and change, and it's my job to help people come to believe that about themselves. This approach creates a safe environment where it is OK to explore and learn, and to consequently grow. Receiving professional help is healthy, self-caring behavior, regardless of the issues you are dealing with.
