My Approach to Helping
Adults experiencing difficulties with depression, anxiety, addiction, moral injury, and trauma who engage in psychotherapy are 70-90 percent more likely to feel a reduction in symptoms and improved quality of life. Building on what's STRONG to fix what's wrong improves individual resilience and empowerment. Positive psychology and development of resilience enhancement skills are a key foundation to begin changing your mind to change your life. Utilizing a cognitive behavioral approach to evaluate how one's thoughtsbeliefs directly relate to their behaviorsactions starts us on our journey to healing and recovery. The field of mental health and the helping professions has always been fascinating to me. Watching clients discover their individual path to hope and strength in order to overcome obstacles is rewarding and inspiring. The human brain is very resilient, yet at times it gets stuck in unhealthy patterns which create negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Learning about how your brain works and possibly finding an answer to the 'Why?' question provides such relief and a path to solutions. I often tell people if recovery were simple, we would Google it and be done. The path of self-awareness and healing is individualized, personal, and at times difficult. Working with a mental health professional reduces the feelings of being alone and allows you to share hopes and fears in a neutral, non-judgmental environment. Sometimes it is just as simple as saying things out loud to gain a different perspective. If you are looking to enhance your resilience, build on your strengths, and overcome obstacles, let's schedule an appointment to build on what's STRONG to fix what's wrong.
