My Approach to Helping
I’m licensed in NC, SC and OK. I am pending licensure in TX, CA and GA. My approach to practice begins with YOU! I’m committed to providing a non-judgmental, empathetic, supportive and empowering approach to therapy. My focus areas of practice include individuals suffering with depression, dementia, Alzheimer’s, bipolar, anger, anxiety, panic attacks, aging, and relationship issues. My modality of treatment includes adults, elderly and couples.
I employ evidence based approaches to include EMDR, CBT, Solution-focused, Cognitive Stimulation and behavioral therapies. I treat individuals and couples who are experiencing issues with communication, depression, anxiety, anger, panic disorder, bipolar, aging and trauma.
I create a positive and supportive environment for my clients where they can be themselves without criticism or judgement. Working with me in a collaborative relationship, you will feel empowered and confident in knowing that you have obtained the necessary tools and strategies needed to face and ultimately overcome many of life’s challenges.
I have over 20 years of formal and informal training. I attended Salem College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. I also attended University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T University and received a Master’s Degree in Social Work. I conducted my internship at Forsyth County Department of Social Services. As a result, this is where my passion developed for providing needed mental health support to individuals, families and couples. I am driven by your success to achieve your goals.
I approach goal setting in an environment that is conducive for You. I will listen to understand and provide open and honest feedback to your issues while establishing, in collaboration with you, your identified goals and objectives.
During your first session with me, you can expect empathetic listening and understanding to your issues and concerns. You can also expect open and honest communication about the therapeutic working relationship.
