My Approach to Helping
I have been working in mental health for 8 years. You are not alone and it is possible to get to a better place! It takes courage to open up and reach out sometimes and I have been there. I strive to provide a comforting, compassionate and safe space for you (or your child or teen) to process your thoughts, emotions and experiences. I also like providing strategies, tools, resources & encouragement! If you're open to it, I have many handouts and worksheets or workbooks we can go through together if that is your style and if it isn't that's okay, too. My approach is to meet you where you are at, and then help you get to where you want to be. This can enable you to reach recovery and your goals faster with a counselor at your side. I like to utilize a strength-based, compassionate and empowering approach to therapy. I provide motivational, open-ended questions to help you reflect and process and coping strategy ideas that are healthy and effective. Therapy can take time and dedication, it can take work outside of session to change bad habits, boundaries and increase the positive, but you can do it, and a therapist can help provide you the space and tools to enable you to get there.
