My Approach to Helping
Hello, I am Dr. Tiera Williams, License Professional Counselor. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with a doctorate degree in community and care counseling who has provided mental health services to individuals and families for over 13 years. I would love to connect with you to start this fulfilling journey!
My therapy approach is individualized and consists of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI) to address challenging issues.
Specializing in helping individuals and families manage issues of depression, anxiety, women issues, anger management, self-esteem, behavior issues, ADHD, adjustmentmilitary, and trauma through a safe and supportive environment.
I strive to help individuals meet their full potential with compassion and warmth. I encourage open and honest dialogue as I have a non-judgmental, welcoming atmosphere.
As a child, I always had the desire to help others and started my career wanting to help those involved in the criminal justice system. As I began my work in the helping field, I recognized my desire to want to help others in many settings. Hence, I pursued my education to become a Professional Counseling. I am consistently energized by opportunities to help individuals in overcoming obstacles. I find it amazingly gratifying to support individuals in becoming the best version of themselves.
I approach goal setting in a team effort, including the client and me, to identify the desires and needs of the client. We will realistically set goals with noticeable measures of progress to set the client up for success.
The first session will include a discussion of informed consent, confidentiality, biopsychosocial assessment, and the development of a treatment plan. The assessment will consist of the client providing me with their reasoning for counseling and life history.
