My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor living in the state of Texas. I am soft-spoken. I was told that it was easy to talk for too long before I became a counselor, and that is a major reason I chose counseling as a career.
I choose Reality Therapy. I ask what are desired goals are and assist in achieving those goals. I find CognitiveBehavioral techniques useful.
Often, reducing depression, anxiety, and stress are common goals I have assisted in attaining. Also, grief processing and improving family communication skills are needs I have addressed.
I am soft-spoken and an attentive listener. I am accepting and non-judgemental.
I chose counseling as a career due to my interest in assisting others struggling with life. Since I have been easily accepted to share, at times, acquaintances' experiences and provide support, counseling was a positive fit for me. I have asked clients which they prefer, counselor or therapist, and the majority chose counselor, which is fine for me.
I have earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Texas A & M University-Commerce. My experience includes domestic violence residence, Intense Outpatient Program, IOP, and private practice with an emphasis on grief processing, depression, family dynamics, anxiety, and stress reduction.
Successful care is achieved by the client knowing goals are attained, and needs are met. As a counselor, I assist my clients in their awareness of their progress.
An initial session with me does begin with a basic introduction, followed by me asking what the client's concerns are.
