My Approach to Helping
As you search for the right therapist, please know that I see each person as an individual with a unique path or life story. I have found that uncomfortable feelings or problematic behaviors often result from being out of sync with that path, with oneself, so to speak. Before entering the counseling field 20 years ago, I worked for many years as a visual artist. Despite my love for art, I view the therapy process, which, in ways, is similar to painting, as a distinct opportunity and honor about which I am passionate.
More Info About My Practice
Whether it be anxiety, depression, grief & loss, relationship difficulties, or family conflict that is bringing you to therapy, I can assist you in working through these issues as well as other life challenges. I offer an eclectic, practical, and conversational approach, drawing on experience gained as a hospital and community counseling agency therapist in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in private practice in Houston, Texas. My education is strongly Jungian and depth oriented. In addition, I am trained in EMDR, Parts I and II, for the gentle resolution of any traumatic experiences which may underlie current distress.
My Role as a Therapist
Taking the step to contact a therapist does not reflect weakness but rather courage and self-responsibility. Sometimes we just need a guide to walk alongside us to clarify, question, and bring a new perspective to our situation. I appreciate the time you have spent in visiting my GoodTherapy page, and I welcome your further inquiry about my practice. I will be happy to talk with you briefly by phone to see if I am the right therapist for you. Wishing you all the best...
