My Approach to Helping
People come to therapy for many reasons: you may be feeling anxious, uncertain, depressed, or fed up with your own self-defeating actions. You may be living with a vague sense of unease, unsure of its source or rationale. Among other things, talking to someone can help you pay better attention to the ways you feel and talk about yourself—how you cut off certain possibilities prematurely, or how you repeat the same tired ideas. One of the chief aims of working together can be to discover how to better parse your desires from others’ expectations of you.
By providing a safe environment for you to speak freely, we will work to understand the fullness of your idiosyncrasies and individuality. I believe that it is only after we learn to be compassionate towards and curious about ourselves, that we can better enjoy the company of others.
