My Approach to Helping
In my opinion, there is nothing more powerful than authentic human connection. The connection built between therapist and client has the ability to foster immense change and growth. As a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist I feel truly honored to be trusted with this responsibility and want nothing more than to create a safe space for my clients to share their stories.
For the past 5 years, I have worked in the field of addiction. I have facilitated sessions with adults, adolescents, groups, couples, and families. I am well versed in drug prevention/psychoeducation and have traveled to schools across the country speaking to students about the dangers of drugs, self-esteem, body image issues, and sexuality.
I feel passionate about my work with addiction, but have also learned that it is merely a symptom of some underlying issue. Trauma, abuse, low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression can all lead to some form of self medication. It then becomes the goal of therapy to work together to engage new, healthier coping skills.
