In this 2-hour continuing education webinar for therapists, Laurissa Hampton, LMHC/LPC will cover the essentials of trauma informed care for adults in a psychotherapy or clinical setting. She will define traumatic events and will discuss:
Special attention will be paid to understanding dissociation and other physical manifestations of unresolved trauma (symptoms/complaints), polyvagal theory and autonomic nervous system responses, and the role of neuroplasticity in both understanding and treating trauma-related symptoms in adults.

A significant body of research suggests that these assessment and treatment methods are effective and safe when properly applied. This presentation will also include a brief overview of several clinically innovative methods of treatment for symptoms associated with trauma in an adult population (for example: SSP protocol, Ketamine assisted psychotherapy) for which research is ongoing.

Laurissa Hampton is a licensed therapist in New Jersey (LPC) and New York (LMHC) with additional training in the treatment of trauma, anxiety disorders, and depression. Laurissa is certified to provide ketamine assisted therapy for the reduction of depressive symptoms, trauma related symptoms, and other forms of mental distress. She is also certified in an intervention that provides relief and recalibration of the nervous system through filtered music (SSP).
Laurissa obtained her graduate degree in counseling psychology with a specialization in forensics and addiction. She holds additional certification in the treatment of trauma.
Laurissa has over 10 years of experience in the field of counseling using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other evidenced based practices, provided services in a variety of settings from hospitals, clinics, to private practice. Additionally, Laurissa is ACS certified and able to provide clinical supervision to clinicians working toward licensure.
