Description

Every developmental stage of human development has its vagaries and challenges. Aging in tandem with the persistent drumbeat of mortality offers a witchy brew of complex issues for we agers to chew on. Many of my aging patients expressed a desire to meet in a group forum where shared anxieties can be discussed in a safe and nurturing community. Loss, grief, and a sense of vulnerability regarding the future are common exigencies of aging. Some of the themes we may wish to explore are: loss of significant others, independence, previous identity, work, community, and the world as you knew it. Grow your coping and socialization skills. Explore identity and the role you placed in your own history. Discuss current/residual family issues and make greater peace with these. Discuss ways of getting more active in the community and find meaningful activities to engage in the world out there and discover ways to stay in the moment with gratitude.

Professional Topics

  • Issues related to aging
