My Approach to Helping
Hello! I’m happy you're here- whether you are new to therapy or a seasoned therapy go-er. A little on how I work with clients: I like to listen deeply- not just to what is said, but also to what might be behind the words. Feelings can be so deep, complicated, and layered sometimes- so I like to take the time to make sure I am understanding the unique stories and experiences my clients are bringing. I may ask you if what I reflect back resonates, or if there's more you'd like to expand on.
I like to help my clients make sense of their feelings by helping you put them into context, or maybe inquiring about childhoodfamily patterns. Our feelings and reactions to things today can have a lot to do with how we were allowed, or not allowed to feel and express things in our family of origin.
I help clients figure out what the heck to do with all the feelings and reactions and memories. This may look like: helping you feel your feelings and feel more comfortable with them. Helping you do some re-parenting, so that you can better be your own guide. It may look look like helping you understand your needs, and how to honor them and express them.
